So when you start hearing noise from the awning you should immediately get it replaced?

We noticed with the bigger 1/4 inch drill bit the Male Extra lags seemed to strip easier in wood thats why we went down to a 3/16 drill bit

Makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the tip.

I have a structural question of Bathmate X30 I purchased a 12' awning that has 3 mounting brackets. My placement  of the brackets will make both end brackets end up over windows. As far as stability goes , should i be concerned?

No, you should have a solid header over your window.

Thanks very much for posting this diagram. Now I get it.
Installation Questions / Re: Installing Roof Brackets

The roof brackets are a little different now.  The base bracket has 3 holes instead of 2. I still only use 2 lag bolts per bracket.
You have to install the base bracket with the angle side facing the edge of the roof. Here is a picture showing the proper direction.

Thank you for getting back to me. I think that by returning the bad one and getting another will be the lesser of the two evils since i would have to take the awning down to replace with a new motor(not enough room on the side).

I had 2 awnings this year that did the same thing. Both were 20 ft. I called SunSetter and they sent me a new awning. I didn't try to remove the motor and fix it just doesn't look good and seem right to do on a brand new awning.
General Questions / noise when retracting awning

I just installed a motorized awning. When I retract the awning it makes a thumping sound. I called Sunsetter  and was told that the splines on the motor are not lined up and the motor would have to be pulled in order to align the splines . Is this a hard job? I was also told that the thumping would just be an annoyance and do no harm to the awning down the road. Any help would be appreciated.
